When I ran into this Snorlax in my way, I was vexed. I glared and said his name in a low, annoyed voice. So when I captured him, I named him after Seinfeld's rival, Newman. Diglett is named after the meerkat character, Timon. Because meerkats burrow. Yeah.


Abra is named after Baba Yaga, a witch-like character in Slavic folklore. Venonat is named after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character Baxter Stockman.


Drowzee is named after Alfred Binet, a 19th century French psychologist and inventor of the first usable intelligence test. Voltorb is named after the Romanized Japanese name of Torpedo Girl from Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Gyorai Gāru. She's a living bomb.


Mr. Mime came to me by trading in an Abra. They wouldn't let me give him a nickname, which slightly miffed me. What really infuriates me is the the nicknaming judge in Lavender Town. He says it's a perfectly wonderful awesome name and won't let me change it. The asshat. Onix is named after the Godzilla character, Baragon.


Hitmonlee is named after Bruce Lee! The master of all! The Ditto is named after a professional mime, Nola Rae.


Cubone is named after the fictional Pippi Longstocking, an orpan. Gastly is named after the Danny Phantom villain, Skulker.


Flareon(Eevee when I name him) is named after Seamus, the dog named in the Pink Floyd song of the same name. Seaking is named after Don King. Because of the king part. *glare* And its eccentricity.
